The severe storm that hit the City of White Rock on Thursday, December 20, 2018 has significantly impacted White Rock’s waterfront area.
White Rock Fire Services, White Rock RCMP and City Staff continue to respond to incidents and will be working throughout the night and in the morning responding to issues and assessing the damage. For their safety, and yours, we are asking the public to stay away from the waterfront until further notice as the damages sustained are substantial.
We understand that you may want to go down to the waterfront and see what has happened or go for a walk; however, at this time, the Promenade, Pier and East Beach will remain closed to the public until further notice because it is not safe. Please give crews the space they need to do their work, respect the barricades that are in place, and be mindful of those redirecting you to another route or informing you that access to an area is closed. They are just trying to keep everyone safe.
This is a difficult time for our community, but we will get through it together. Thank you in advance for your understanding, cooperation and support.
