Guidelines for the City of White Rock's Busking Program, 2012 - 2013
Audition Process

Performance Artists are asked to audition. Video auditions will be accepted. Pre-approved (licensed in previous year) artists need to submit a written application but will not need to audition again.

Annual License Applications open December 1 for the following year. Auditions are held in April and licenses issued for May.

The audition process will be conducted by a committee, selected by the City of White Rock Director of Leisure Services.

Performance Artists will be notified once they have been selected.

Licenses will only be available to approved Performance Artists.
Licensing
- Leisure Services will notify successful applicants.
- Selected Performance Artists will be required to obtain a license prior to commencing work.
- License restrictions and information will be given at the time the license is issued.
- The license will be valid for the current year from May 1 to April 30 of the following year. Annual License fee is $20 (2012).
- Licenses will be limited. The total number of licenses issued will be based on an annual evaluation of the program.
- Limited and specific busking sites will be available for booking through a reservation system. The Performance Artist will be able to reserve busking sites.
Scheduling and Locations
- Six areas are designated for busking in the license. The locations are:
- White Rock Museum and Archives, West Plaza
- East Beach, Marine Drive at Finlay Street
- The ATM on Marine Drive at the foot of Martin Street
- The green park space next to the white rock on the beach, east of the pier
- Whale Wall, corner of Russell Avenue and Johnston Road
- 5 Corners, Johnston Rd. and Pacific Avenue
- The Performance Artist will be able to book a specific location and time range. Bookings will be accepted one week in advance. The reservation will be processed through White Rock Leisure Services (604) 541-2199.
