The mandate of the Environment committee is to consider, evaluate and provide advice to Council on environment-related issues referred to it by the Mayor or Council. The Committee's activities shall align with Council's vision and strategic goals, thus enabling Council to bring practical action to their vision and the Committee to focus their energies on those prioritized tasks.
The Environment committee will work towards accomplishing a wide-range of objectives as listed below:
- Investigate ways to encourage “green” elements in redevelopments.
- Participate in or provide input on any initiatives that may impact the water or air quality and general ecological health of the community.
- Liaise and foster relationships with other local environmental organizations to include other city committees and liaise with non-voting members.
- Prepare an annual report on its activities throughout the year, as well as action plans for all tasks referred to it by Council.
The Environment committee meets monthly from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.
