I've been in White Rock for 34 years, a co-owner of the legendary Sandpiper Pub for almost 20 years, and a past board member of the Semiahmoo Community Safety Society for over 11 years.
One of the big issues on people's minds these days is inflation in Canada and correspondingly that in White Rock. If the property taxes are increasing above that rate of inflation, then something is wrong with the city budget. I will push to make sure that the city budget does not increase above the rate of inflation.
Another issue is public safety. Our community has experienced one of the lowest crime rates in British Columbia. As such, I want to make sure that trend remains the same. If elected, I will support our local RCMP as well as our fire services as much as possible, to be able to keep the quality of life that we all expect and deserve in White Rock.
The infrastructure replacement project within the city has been worked on over the past number of government terms. However, that work needs to continue in order to provide top notch water distribution and roadways that can support our current and future population.
The funds that will make the infrastructure improvements happen will come from the development cost charges which are charged to the developers when they come into White Rock. These charges will substantially reduce the tax burden of White Rock residents and business owners.
