How to Participate and Track Your Active Minutes
It's easy to participate in the Community Challenge!
Step 1: Download the App
Download the ParticipACTION app. By signing up for the app using your White Rock postal code, your individual physical activity minutes will be tracked and counted toward White Rock's overall score.
Step 2: Sign up for the Community Challenge
The ParticipACTION Community Challenge is a national physical activity initiative that encourages Canadians to get active in search of Canada's Most Active Community. It is open to all individuals, organizations and businesses. All minutes tracked on the app and website from June 1-30 count toward White Rock's total score (if using a White Rock postal code). Sign up here.
Step 3: Track your Activity
Track your individual physical activity minutes using the app or on the website. You can even sync your fitness tracker with the app. Remember, if you are tracking on behalf of a group, organization or for other family members, you will need to track those minutes on the ParticipACTION website.

About the Challenge
The ParticipACTION Community Challenge is a nationwide initiative that rallies communities to sit less and move more. The goal is to engage families, friends, neighbours, schools, organizations, businesses and fellow community members to get active and track all physical activity through the ParticipACTION app from June 1 - 30.
If you are in the business of active programming, you can sign up as an organization and track your group’s active minutes throughout the month of June on the ParticipACTION website. Schools can log physical education class participation, teams and clubs can log minutes for practices and games and gyms can log group workouts.
Encourage your members/clients to log their individual physical activity in the ParticipACTION app through the month of June. Follow our social media channels and share our messaging.
Every active minute counts! Whether participating in sports, walking on the promenade or working in the garden. Physical activity is important for everyone, at every age and we want our residents to build connections and remain engaged in a healthy and active lifestyle year round.
FAQs
If you are taking a program through White Rock Recreation and Culture, staff will log your activity for you.
If you are participating in an activity independently, you have to log your activity directly into the ParticipACTION app.
The ParticipACTION App is available on the Apple App Store or Google Play. You can find the app by searching ParticipACTION Fitness App.
The prize money will support physical activity opportunities and improvements for the City of White Rock.
Any activity where your body is moving can be tracked, such as working out, fitness classes, swimming, walking, wheeling, active work (construction work etc), cycling, hand cycling, strength training, dance, yoga, pilates, gardening, house work, sports, running, and more.
There are no limitations on how many times you can track physical activity for a given day. The most minutes one individual can track for one activity, however, is 180 minutes.
