The Chief Election Officer as appointed by the City of White Rock Council is responsible for conducting local government elections in accordance with the regulations set out by the Local Government Act.
Chief Election Officer: Sandy Bowden
The City of White Rock has appointed Sandy Bowden as the Chief Election Officer for the 2018 Local Government Election. Sandy's experience spans over 25 years in the local government field, 17 of those serving as the Corporate Officer for municipalities on Vancouver Island. Sandy holds a wealth of knowledge and experience from working (including running) ten BC local government voting opportunities.

Election Reform
The Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development completed the first phase of Local Government Elections reform which has resulted in a change to the timing for local elections and term of office. General local elections will now be held on the third Saturday in October every four years. General Voting Day will be October 20, 2018.
- The term of office for the 2018 Election will be November 2018 to November 2022
In advance of Election Day, the Chief Election Officer advertises in the local newspaper, calling for nominations, naming the candidates that are running and outlining general procedures regarding voting.

Nomination Packages will be available starting July 27, 2018, at City Hall in the Administration Office during regular business hours from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding Statutory Holidays, or you may download the nomination package forms here (please visit the Corporate Administration Department at City Hall for a comprehensive package with additional information):
