Transportation Plan & Traffic Calming Policy

Traffic Calming Policy & Procedures

The two primary goals of traffic calming are to enhance safety by reducing the potential for and lessening the consequences of conflicts between road users, and preserve neighbourhood livability by reducing the negative impacts of short-cutting or speeding traffic.

The establishment of a Traffic Calming Policy provides procedures to receive and evaluate requests for traffic calming within the City under guiding principles that will influence the development of neighbourhood plans.

Strategic Transportation Plan

The City of White Rock's 2014 Strategic Transportation Plan builds upon the vision "to provide a safe, efficient multi-modal transportation network that meets the present and future needs of residents and visitors." The 2014 STP includes a review of the transportation conditions present in White Rock today, and outlines the updated transportation goals and strategies to guide the long-term vision for the enhancement of the City's multi-modal transportation system. City Council adopted the 2014 Strategic Transportation Plan in December 2014.
