City Committee volunteer opportunities

Volunteering is a great way for residents to get involved, provide input and expertise on important issues and make a positive contribution to our community.  The City is currently accepting applications to fill vacancies on the committee below (with terms ending March 31, 2021):

  • Advisory Design Panel 1 member to address the perspective of a physically challenged person.
  • Arts and Cultural Advisory Committee 
  • Economic Development Advisory Committee 
  • History and Heritage Advisory Committee 
  • Housing Advisory Committee* 
  • Public Art Advisory Committee 
  • Seniors Advisory Committee 
  • Tour de White Rock Committee
  • Water Community Advisory Panel 
  • White Rock Sea Festival Committee

(* Housing Advisory Committee does not have a term end date at this time)

Complete applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on December 15, 2020.

Application Criteria

  • Applicants must not be employees of the City of White Rock.
  • Applicants who live in the City of White Rock will be considered first (unless otherwise noted in the terms of reference).
  • Applicants should be able to serve for the full term of the appointment. A full-term consists of one year unless otherwise noted in the terms of reference.

Time Commitment

Time requirements vary among the Committees. Most Committees however, meet once a month in the day or evening for no more than two (2) hours. Some Committees may meet less frequently. In general, Committees do not meet in August or December.


As these are volunteer positions successful candidates serve without remuneration.

Application Process

  • Carefully review the mandate for each select committee and task force and identify which ones interest you. 
  • Download and complete the application (PDF) form available online. 
  • All applications should include a resume or cover letter.
  • Applications should be marked to the attention of the Director of Corporate Administration.

The information submitted will be considered by Council as part of the appointment process. Once the decisions have been made, all applicants will be contacted with respect to their submissions.

Applicants will receive a letter advising of Council’s decision once the appointments have been made.
