Committee volunteer opportunities

Volunteering is a great way for residents to get involved, provide input and expertise on important issues and make a positive contribution to our community.  

The City is currently recruiting for the following Committee/ Task Force:

Financial Planning Policies Task Force

The Task Force shall provide recommendations on potential activities and deliverables the City should include in its annual financial planning process. The City of White Rock is seeking applicants with the following experience:  

  • Financial Planning
  • Budget/Budget Analysis 
  • Local Government Finance

 The above-mentioned experience would be considered an asset; however, all application submissions are welcomed and will be taken into consideration. 

 The Financial Planning Policies Task Force is expected to meet once a month at 4:00 p.m., with a potential to meet more often at certain times.

Seven (7) members are sought for appointment for a one (1) year term or earlier (when the approved work plan is completed).

 Application Process

  • Carefully review the mandate for the task force. The Financial Planning Policies Task Force mandate can be found on the City website at http://whiterockcity.ca/committees.
  • Download and complete the application form available online at http://whiterockcity.ca/committees. Hard copies of the application may be requested for pick up by emailing clerksoffice@whiterockcity.ca or by phone: 604 541 2275. 
  • All applications should include a resume or cover letter. 
  • Applications should be marked to the attention of the Director of Corporate Administration. 

 The information submitted will be considered by Council as part of the appointment process. The City of White Rock seeks to have diversity in the membership of the Advisory Committees, including age, gender, ethnicity, etc., which will be taken into consideration in the appointment process. Once the decisions have been made, all applicants will be contacted with respect to their submissions.

Complete applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021

Application Criteria

  • Applicants must not be employees of the City of White Rock.
  • Applicants who live in the City of White Rock will be considered first (unless otherwise noted in the terms of reference).
  • Applicants should be able to serve for the full term of the appointment. 
  • Applicants must be comfortable meeting electronically through Microsoft Teams. 

Time Commitment

Time requirements vary among the Committees. Most Committees however, meet once a month in the day or evening for no more than two (2) hours. Some Committees may meet less frequently. In general, Committees do not meet in August or December. For a better understanding of time expectations, it is encouraged that the Terms of Reference(s) be reviewed for the Committee(s) of interest to you.

Remuneration

As these are volunteer positions successful candidates serve without remuneration.
