Join guest speaker Dr. Kari Grain and members of the White Rock-South Surrey community on a journey of cultivating a community for everyone on Monday, May 29 at the White Rock Community Centre.
The White Rock/South Surrey community currently finds itself at a crossroads where many people are seeing changes related to mental health, housing, and substance use. As stigma and discrimination are on the rise, many people are asking the question: How do we cultivate a sense of community where everyone’s concerns are heard, validated, and addressed?
Joined by Dr. Kari Grain, author of Critical Hope, she will discuss the transformative impact that "critical hope" can have on community building and systemic change. Following Dr. Grain's presentation, we will host a dialogue among a panel of local community members with diverse lived experiences. We will share stories, articulate concerns, and explore ideas for building a more nourishing and connected community together.
