The City of White Rock is pleased to welcome Staff Sgt. Kale Pauls as the new commander of the White Rock detachment of the RCMP effective Nov. 18.

Staff Sgt. Pauls joined the RCMP in 2004, following a career as a community mental health worker. He started in general duty in Salmon Arm and Alexis Creek. In 2009, he moved to the Kamloops RCMP General Investigation Section in the area of drug and property crime. In Kamloops, he helped to establish a police-mental health crisis car.

Promoted to Corporal in 2013, Staff Sgt. Pauls moved to the Mission detachment and served as commander of the General Investigation Section. Staff Sgt. Pauls was an expert in providing testimony at Provincial Court in the area of cocaine, heroin and fentanyl trafficking.

Staff Sgt. Pauls takes over for Sgt. Rob Dixon who was the acting commander of the White Rock detachment during the recruitment for a commander. Sgt. Dixon oversaw such initiatives as volunteer patrols, Speed Watch, Stop Watch, community engagement, crime prevention and waterfront enforcement.
