The City of White Rock is updating its Economic Development Strategic Plan with a new vision, objectives and strategies based on current conditions and long-term trends affecting White Rock’s economic strength.
The updated Economic Development Strategic Plan will guide how jobs and businesses in White Rock change and grow in a post-pandemic future. The City wants to hear from local residents and businesses about the direction that the economic development strategy should take.
Two anonymous surveys are now available online at talkwhiterock.ca until March 31, 2021. One survey is for business owners and managers and will take about 15 minutes to complete. The second survey, for residents, will take about five minutes to finish.

The updated Economic Development Strategic Plan will be developed by and for the people who live, work or have invested in a business in White Rock, with the survey results setting the foundation for future engagement.
The City’s newly hired economic development officer will work with White Rock’s Economic Development Advisory Committee—a group composed of representatives from the community, local business and not-for-profit groups—as well as with community partners.
Early survey results will be shared with community focus groups in May 2021. A draft update to the Economic Development Strategic Plan is expected to be ready in the fall of 2021.
Mayor Darryl Walker
“There is no question that it has been a difficult time for businesses in White Rock during the COVID-19 pandemic. The impacts of temporary closures and reductions in business will be felt still for quite some time.
Yet in White Rock, we want to look beyond where we are now and plan for the future. We are encouraging residents of our city and people who work or run a business here to share their vision for White Rock’s future economy. Please go to our Talk White Rock web page, complete a survey and help us get this project started.”
