[ARCHIVED] Semiahmoo First Nation, City of White Rock sign three utility service agreements

Semiahmoo First Nation and City of White Rock sign three utility service agreements

The Semiahmoo First Nation and the City of White Rock are pleased to announce that they have signed three utility service agreements, two for water supply and one for sewer services.

The City and the Nation meet regularly as Councils to discuss matters affecting both governments and items of mutual interest. As part of their ongoing dialogue on a variety of matters, the City and SFN have steadily moved toward the completion of servicing agreements.

The City promised in the 2021-2022 Council Strategic Priorities to continue to nurture its relationship for the benefit of both communities. Among the other items identified in the 2021-2022 Council Strategic Priorities are a memorandum of understanding for drainage and a communication protocol.

Semiahmoo First Nation Chief Harley Chappell

“The Semiahmoo First Nation is proud to work alongside our friends and neighbours at the City of White Rock. These agreements renew hope in building a long-lasting partnership of respect and co-operation with the city.

We look forward to the continued co-operation between our governments as we move into the future.”

White Rock Mayor Darryl Walker

“Signing these utility service agreements fulfills promises made in Council’s Strategic Priorities and demonstrates the City’s dedication to the important partnership with our friend and neighbour, the Semiahmoo First Nation.

We continue meeting as governments to strengthen our partnership and progress toward the completion of new agreements. We look forward to continuing to build trust.”
