City Hall remains open, many services offered online, as pandemic continues

White Rock City Hall

The City of White Rock remains open by appointment, with essential services continuing and many services offered online, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

The City has taken safety measures that include:

  • Employees working from home, when possible, and meeting online instead of in person
  • Employees undergoing COVID-19 screening before entering the workplace
  • All employees wearing masks indoors and outside when two-metre distances cannot be maintained
  • Recreation and culture programs offered that follow public health orders, including reduced numbers, required pre-registration, COVID-19 screening and fitness courses offered online
  • City Committee and Council meetings held virtually, with opportunities for delegations to appear through electronic means
  • Community engagement through public information meetings and the City’s Talk White Rock engagement platform
  • Dog and business licence application and payments, parking permits, parking decals, recycling bins and bags, garbage stickers, parking and bylaw ticket payments and other services available online at whiterockcity.ca/online
  • Requests for service available at whiterockcity.ca/requestforservice
  • A secure drop box available at City Hall for non-cash payments and for picking up brochures
  • Signage in City parks and other public places encouraging people to keep a safe distance and to wear masks.

In-person service continues for:

  • Garbage, recycling and green bin collection
  • Parking enforcement
  • Bylaw enforcement
  • Building permit applications (by appointment)
  • Signing of pension documents for White Rock residents (by appointment)
  • Water treatment, monitoring and provision
  • Parks and roads maintenance
  • City construction projects.

Quotes

Guillermo Ferrero
CAO, City of White Rock

“In White Rock, our focus is on the health and safety of our employees and the public we serve. We are open for appointments at City Hall, as needed.

Our City Hall does not have adequate space in the public areas for distancing. Instead, we encourage people to use the phone, email and website, when possible, so we can reduce the spread of COVID-19 among City staff and in the community.

Please visit whiterockcity.ca to find out what services are available and how to access them.”

Mayor Darryl Walker
City of White Rock

“Throughout the pandemic, the City of White Rock has committed to providing essential services, moving meetings and public consultation online, and encouraging people to shop local and buy food and goods online or through curbside pickup and delivery.

Let’s continue to work together to reduce the spread of COVID-19, wearing masks whenever we can’t keep a safe distance, wash our hands and travel only when it’s essential. Register for a vaccine, if you haven’t had one yet, and get tested for COVID-19 if you have symptoms.”
