The City of White Rock has a railway on the waterfront. This single track rail line is operated by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) and used by BNSF and Amtrak passenger trains. The line operates 24 hours per day and between 2004 and 2013, there was
about a 1,000 per cent increase in rail traffic. Now, with increased tourism and population growth, as well as concerns raised about emergency access and the transportation of hazardous goods such as chlorine, hydrochloric acid and propane through the areas, it’s
time to look at future long-term plans for rail traffic relocation.
