Recycling Program

The City of White Rock provides weekly curbside recycling for single family homes, eligible townhouses and apartment complexes of 6 units or less. Recycling is 3 streams and must be sorted into the appropriate recycling box or bag:

      • Blue box for plastic and metal container recycling
      • Yellow bag for paper/cardboard/newspaper recycling
      • Red box for glass container recycling
  • Do not put recycling out in any other type of bag or container. These will not be collected. Tear up or fold cardboard to fit inside your yellow recycling bag. We cannot collect large pieces of cardboard so the crews will leave any cardboard that is not in the recycling bag.
  • It is important that only the correct items go in your recycling bag and boxes. If your bag or box contains a lot of wrong materials, we may not be able to take your recycling. If possible, the crew will leave a sticker on the bag or box to let you know why it could not be collected.

Recycling bags or recycling boxes for single family homes are available for pick up at the following City facilities - check for hours (there is a fee for recycling boxes):

In 2014 businesses that supply packaging and printed paper to BC residents became responsible for collecting and managing these materials so they can be recycled. Recycle BC (formerly MMBC) a non-profit organization, is working on behalf of these businesses, and is responsible for residential recycling programs in many areas across BC. The City of White Rock participates in the Recycle BC program. For more information on Recycle BC please visit their website Recycle BC
