Ancient Egyptians use of fashion told you who really mattered, the elegant Roman lady’s lead-based makeup was to die for, the warriors of the Middle ages loved bling as much as combat, the bewigged and high heeled European courtiers of the 16th-18th century dressed to impress, and the hoops and bustles depicted in the Impressionists’ world of the 19th century still charm us today. A light hearted review of human vanity and fashion as seen through the history of art.
