Memorial Park Open House: Session 2

Background: In 2008, concepts for revitalizing Memorial Park and creating a more inviting community space for the public were completed. This space was planned to better accommodate concerts, other outdoor activities as well as enhanced interaction and opportunities with the waterfront. This project was put on hold for a future initiative.

Present Day: The design has been revived but requires some updates to better serve the needs of today. Seven years of steady growth and expansion, sees us now in a much different White Rock. The waterfront district is in need of improvements to keep up with the growth of the City around it. The Memorial Park project encompasses from the parking lot directly east of the Museum, all the angled parking along Marine Drive, the tourist kiosk, the sloped “great lawn", the grand stair, the adjacent promenade and the washroom with the mezzanine/overlook. The vision is to have this project commissioned for a Summer 2017 opening.

Purpose of Drop-in Sessions: To collect public feedback from the community. Please bring your ideas and suggestions. 

Format of Drop-in Sessions: Information boards, imagery and a draft concept will be on display. Sticky notes and pens will be provided for populating ideas at the community’s leisure. Drop-in and share your ideas, should you desire. Session 1 will be to collect initial thoughts to improve the "working draft" concept. Session 2 the revised concept plan will be on display with opportunity for the public to further add insight.
