The mandate of the Cultural committee is to advise Council on creating and supporting sustainable cultural initiatives and to embrace a vision that honours the past, celebrates the present and plans for the future.
To actively support different cultural celebrations including performing arts, music, dance, painting, literature, visual arts, architecture and special events.
To liaise with the Semiahmoo First Nation, Tourism White Rock, White Rock Business Improvement Association, and other Committees and community stakeholders to build interest and participation in arts and cultural activities.
The Cultural committee will work towards accomplishing a wide-range objectives as follows:
- Establish a Work plan based on the mandate for Councils approval
- Advise on the Interim Cultural Strategy
- Liaise with other Council appointed Committees, community stakeholders and the media to promote the arts and cultural initiatives in White Rock.
- Prepare an annual report on its activities throughout the year, as well as action plans for all tasks referred to it by Council.
The Cultural committee meets monthly from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.
