Fire Rescue Response to Fire on Marine Drive

White Rock Fire Rescue responded to call about a Commercial Structure Fire at 14903 Marine Drive at 7:00 a.m. on March 10, 2015.

Crews arrived to the rear of the second floor being fully involved in fire. The fire had extended into a large attic space and spread across the top of the building causing the roof to collapse. Adjacent buildings were evacuated.

The fire was contained to the building of origin with adjacent buildings receiving minor exterior damage primarily from the heat. The unstable nature of the building after the fire was extinguished required an excavator be brought in to remove the hazard to the sidewalk and road.

No interior damage occurred to adjacent buildings. With power restored, all residents were allowed back into their suites in neighbouring properties.

Marine Drive from Elm to Vidal will remain closed until the majority of the building is demolished and removed today, Wednesday 11 March.
