NOTICE OF HIGHWAY CLOSURE, DISPOSITION AND INTENTION TO SELL CITY LANDS (14968 BUENA VISTA AVENUE)

BYLAW 2164: Road Closure of the Right of Way Adjacent to 14968 Buena Vista Avenue Bylaw, 2016, No. 2164

TAKE NOTICE THAT pursuant to Sections 26, 40 and 94 of the Community Charter the Council of the City of White Rock will be considering adoption of Bylaw 2164, cited as “Road Closure of the Right of Way adjacent to 14968 Buena Vista Avenue Bylaw, 2016, No. 2164,” at the October 3, 2016 regular meeting to be held at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers located at 15322 Buena Vista Avenue. The intent of Bylaw 2164 is to close to traffic and remove the dedication of a 62.8 square metre portion of Beachview Avenue abutting 14968 Buena Vista Avenue to the south, as outlined in bold on the map (see below).

The northern 53.9 square metre portion of the property located at 14968 Buena Vista Avenue will be dedicated by bylaw as highway and added to Buena Vista Avenue. The purpose of the road closure and dedication removal (62.8 square metres to the south of the property) and dedication (the northern 53.9 square metres of the property) is to realign the property boundaries and highway boundaries for Buena Vista and Beachview Avenues, as indicated on the map. 

The City of White Rock further gives notice of its intention to sell the closed portion of highway to the owner of the adjacent property at 14968 Buena Vista Avenue, 1036704 BC Ltd. The City will receive $24,000 and the northern 53.9 square metres of the property in exchange for the 62.8 square metre closed right-of-way. The $24,000 is calculated based on the price that was paid for the purchase of the lot. The City will cover the surveying costs associated with the realignment of the property, estimated at $5,000.

All persons who consider they are affected by the proposed Road Closure Bylaw shall be afforded an opportunity to make representations to Council orally at this October 3, 2016 meeting, or to present written submissions to the City Clerk no later than 4:00 p.m. on October 3, 2016.

A copy of the proposed Bylaw and associated reports may be inspected in the City Clerk’s Office at White Rock City Hall, 15322 Buena Vista Avenue, White Rock, BC, from Tuesday, September 20, 2016 until Monday, October 3, 2016, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding weekends and statutory holidays.
